Floridians can extend individual liberties by legalizing adult use recreational marijuana in November

(Jacksonville, FL) – Jacksonville State Senator Tracie Davis, District 5, threw her support behind passing Amendment 3 in November, legalizing adult use recreational marijuana in Florida, and is encouraging her constituents and all Floridians to vote YES in a recent op-ed for The Florida Times-Union.

In her op-ed, Sen. Davis lays out the common-sense arguments in favor of passing Amendment 3, including ending the vicious cycle of arrests disproportionally afflicting individuals of color, alleviating the burden on the criminal justice system and finding beneficial uses for the tax benefits Florida is primed to receive, as state economists project more than $400 million annually in new tax revenue.

Sen. Davis joins a growing coalition which has come together in favor of Amendment 3, including a robust 66% of registered voters from across the political spectrum, per a recent Fox News Poll.

“Our current approach to marijuana regulation is failing. Rather than continuing to bury our heads in the sand and pretend that this substance is any different than alcohol or tobacco, the people of Florida have a chance to alter the trajectory of our state for generations to come,” Sen. Davis wrote in her column. “Let’s stop needlessly arresting people and instead create jobs, generate tax revenue and control marijuana in a legal, regulated and safe market. Help me legalize adult use of marijuana by voting YES for Amendment 3 in November.”
