BREAKING: Dem. State Sen. Shevrin “Shev” Jones Endorses Amendment 3
Support continues to surge for campaign to legalize adult use marijuana
(Miami Gardens, FL) – Today, State Sen. Shevrin “Shev” Jones (D-District 34), a pioneering champion of individual rights in the Florida Senate, announced his endorsement of a YES vote on Amendment 3, legalizing adult use marijuana in the state.
A former educator and vice chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Education, Sen. Jones knows that a vote for Amendment 3 is a vote for a safer and more equitable Florida, ranging from more economic benefits for our schools to fewer Floridians – especially those of color – behind bars for petty possession charges.
“It’s time we take Florida forward, not remain stuck in the past,” said Sen. Jones. “Passing Amendment 3 is about making it so fewer people are sitting behind bars for petty marijuana possession, keeping more families intact and relieving our criminal justice system. Over half the country already has the freedom to access safe, regulated marijuana. It’s time Florida enjoys that same liberty.”
Sen. Jones joins a growing coalition from across the political spectrum who agree that passing Amendment 3 is the best path for Florida. His endorsement follows Republican State Sen. Joe Gruters (R-District 22) and the Libertarian Party of Florida, illustrating the broad support for legalizing recreational adult use marijuana.
“As we continue to showcase that passing Amendment 3 is truly a vote for greater freedom and justice, Sen.
