ICYMI: Retired Jacksonville Principal Urges Florida to Vote YES on Amendment 3
(Jacksonville, FL) – Barbara Langley, a life-long educator and school principal with over 44 years of experience in Florida’s public school system, wrote a column in the Florida Times-Union urging Floridians to vote yes on Amendment 3 this November. As an educator, Principal Langley knows Amendment 3 will create a safer state for all Floridians.
In her op-ed, Principal Langley, a Jacksonville native, cites recent studies that show when states legalize adult use marijuana, there is a decline in youth consumption, an increase in college enrollment rates and an increase in investments in schools.
Langley joins a growing coalition of Floridians supporting Amendment 3. In recent weeks, Amendment 3 has gained support from Republican Sen. Joe Gruters, Democratic Sen. Shev Jones and a number of local elected officials.
“By supporting Amendment 3, we have an opportunity to bolster the education system in Florida, better support our students and increase our college enrollment rates,” writes Principal Langley. “These changes help our young people thrive both inside and outside the classroom.”
