Don’t believe the lies: Florida’s competitive marijuana market is a win for consumers
 

(Orlando, FL) – Today, Smart & Safe Florida released a new ad, “False” highlighting the 25 companies that currently hold licenses for the growth, production and sale of medical marijuana in Florida and the Governor’s ability to immediately double the size of the marijuana market by approving the 22 licenses pending approval from his office.

The 25 medical marijuana companies currently operating in Florida employ more than 30,000 people throughout the state. Amendment 3 will expand the marijuana market and allow the legislature to approve more licenses. Amendment 3 will create jobs and increase tax revenue by $431 million annually that can be spent on public services likes schools and police.

In a fact check, WPTV concluded opposition claims about the size of the marijuana market in Florida to be “false,” noting the 25 current license holders in Florida. Similarly,

Licenses

Right now, 25 companies have licenses to cultivate, process and dispense medical marijuana in Florida. A full list of those companies can be found HERE from the Office of Medical Marijuana Use.

Since 2022, an additional 22 licenses have sat in the DeSantis Administration’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use, pending approval.

Jobs

The 25 marijuana companies licensed to operate in Florida provide 30,238 jobs across the state, and during the pandemic, when other job opportunities diminished, the marijuana industry put 15,000 Floridians back to work.
