Smart & Safe Florida Announces New Ad, “It’s Time,” Featuring Republican Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith
Campaign to legalize adult use recreational marijuana debuts “It’s Time”
(Orlando, FL) – Today, Smart & Safe Florida released a new ad featuring Republican Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith. In “It’s Time,” Sheriff Smith says it’s time to stop ruining the lives of adult Floridians with arrests for simple marijuana possession and ensure access to lab-tested products.
The new ad comes after “Not A Bad Person,” featuring Sheriff Smith who announced his endorsement of Amendment 3 last month, telling Action News Jax his 38 years as a tough-on-crime sheriff along with his brother’s positive experience with medical marijuana shaped his belief that it’s past time to legalize recreational adult use marijuana in the Free State of Florida.
Sheriff Smith is joined in his support of Amendment 3 by law enforcement officers from around the state including Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young, former Duval County Sheriff Nat Glover, and Miami Gardens Police Chief Delma Noel-Pratt.
Earlier this month, Sheriff Smith pinned an op-ed outlining his support for Amendment 3 because he believes we can get fentanyl-laced marijuana off the streets and give adult Floridians access to safe, lab-tested marijuana products while freeing up resources for law enforcement to tackle serious crimes.
“It’s Time” will air statewide on broadcast, streaming, cable and through digital platforms.
“It’s Time” can be viewed HERE.
A yes vote on Amendment 3 will improve the health and safety of Floridians and alleviate the burden on both the law enforcement and criminal justice communities. Access to regulated adult use marijuana will help prevent illicit cartel-trafficked marijuana from making its way into Florida. Without regulation, these products can be laced with fentanyl, ketamine, and other dangerous substances.
